STAND UP

This past week I have been thinking a lot about standing. Not the physical manifestation of standing up, but metaphorically standing for something, whether it be a principle, an idea, or even people. As a Christian, I've been in situations before where I've had the opportunity to "stand up" for something. However, there are times when I've felt embarrassed, alone, and even downright tired of being the odd person out, because telling others you're a Christian often puts you in a position that contradicts the "popular" worldview and choices. This year I've decided to invest a great deal of effort in my own personal growth. I neglected it for a good while, always taking care of others first and making sure everyone else got what they needed in order to be happy.Part of that growth is unashamedly standing up for what I believe to be right and true. It's my belief that we owe it to the world and to our Creator to fulfill the destiny we were endowed with. Each of us has something special and unique to contribute, including perspective and ideas. It is our responsibility to challenge the things we feel are right or wrong, and to allow ourselves to be challenged for the better in return. So many people these days are afraid to step out and speak firmly about how they really feel about something. But not me. Not anymore.I challenge you to write down three things that you have been struggling to stand up for today and review them carefully. What are you sacrificing by not offering your true self to those around you?Let's change the narrative, friends! Here's to personal growth and standing for something meaningful in 2019.Happy Thursday!-ASCOOTD DEETS:Dress: H&MHat: ASOSSandals: NordstromAll photos courtesy of Courtney Young Photography.
