5 Black Interior Designers to Watch Out for in 2025
Good morning ASC Fam! Happy Black History month! If you haven’t noticed, I myself am Black ALL year, but want to take the time out in this very special month to highlight some of my favorite Black Interior Designers to watch out for in 2025 and beyond! These IDs are making waves in their communities and around the world, and are either just starting out or are titans in the industry. If you are looking for IDs to support this month/year, then I hope these recommendations give you all the information you need. :)
Brigette Romanek—Brigette is an award-winning Interior Designer in Los Angeles, CA and the founder of Romanek Design Studio. She started RDS in 2018, and has designed gorgeous homes and spaces for Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce, Christian Bale, and many more. I personally love how she incorporates the use of color and texture within different design genres with seamless uniformity, evoking palpable emotion with her choices. Her designs are luxurious without feeling pompous, and the quality of her work is evident.
Forbes Masters—this dynamic duo has produced some amazing interiors and have received honors from Architectural Digest, Kips Bay Design (2021) and more. Tavia Forbes and Monet Masters, founders of FORBES+MASTERS, both love eclectic and bold designs and came together after overlapping on a project. Some of my favorite parts of their portfolio portray the setting of modern and yes, eclectic furniture, and their use of lines to create a story in a space is fantastic!
Candice Luter—Candice is the founder of Candice Luter Art + Interiors, and is an artisan of many talents! She not only designs interiors, but creates beautiful pieces for your home as well. Her unique designs have been featured on HGTV, Essence, Apartment Therapy, and more! I love her unique organic, minimalist yet intriguing collections with the use of natural materials—I’ve been eyeing the fiber sculptures collection!
Breegan Jane—Breegan is an all-around designer, and a woman after my own heart! She not only designs, but is an TV host, author and philanthropist. She is the founder of Breegan Jane, and has done several collaborations with other brands for lighting, wallpaper, and other decor. I love her use of pattern in texture, while still maintaining cohesiveness and luxury! As a native Californian, I love a good luxury beach house feel, and that is her specialty!
Nayshi Richardson—who is that, you might ask? Why it’s me, the founder of ASC Design Studio! I am an interior designer, DIY-er, and project manager who loves creating spaces that feel like home for my clients. I love incorporating organic, unique, eclectic and modern design into one space, and specialize in bringing thoughtful vintage pieces into any aesthetic. Clean lines, exquisite architecture, and thoughtful minimalism are staples, and I also apply these same principles to my budding home decor line, ALANAYA HOME. This year I’ll be expanding on both aspects, so stay in touch by joining my email list!
If you are looking for inspiration, designers to add to your watch-list, or just opportunities to support during this BHM, I hope this list informs you! Keep learning, loving and creating spaces where others always feel welcome.
See you next week—we’ll be chatting about some of my favorite Black-owned Interior Decor brands!
