OSCARS 2017 HIGHLIGHTS: BEST DRESSED, BLOOPERS AND #GaryFromChicago 's RISE TO STARDOM
Oscars 2017!Wow. From a great opening performance by the talented Justin Timberlake, all the way to the Best Picture announcement blooper of the year, this year's Academy Awards was by far my favorite. Not just because of the innovative jokes by this year's host, Jimmy Kimmel, but because of the realistic applications and messages incorporated throughout the show. I loved how #GaryFromChicago made the show personal, reminding us that we are all still regular people, even if we are a little star-struck at times.Throughout the program, many of the awards and speeches given possessed a common theme: love trumps hate, and America should be a place where that is evident, more so than anywhere else because of its melting pot rise to success. The entire show was a demonstration of how many individuals from countries around the world that help "Make America Great," through their contributions to art, fashion, and society at large. We are all members of a world society that can contribute to positive outcomes, if we do chose. Finally, as a great man once said; an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Never be afraid to live a life that uplifts this concept. And now that I'm off that soapbox, let's take a look at ALANAYA's best dressed choices for the 2017 Oscars! 😆1. Just because I absolutely LOVE Oscar de la Renta. This gown is stunning, with linear lines and fabulous curves in ALL of the right places! Great choice, Brie.
2. Viola! Need I say more? She always combines fantastic color with eminent elegance, and this Armani gown was no exception. Did I mention that she is the first African-American to win a Tony, Oscar, and an Emmy?
3. Despite the Moonlight Best Picture blunder, Mahershala Ali was looking sharp at all times!
4. Movement, movement, movement! Emma dazzled in this vintage-inspired gown by Givenchy.
5. Janelle Monae always brings an element of surprise with every piece she wears. True to her staple black and white, this Ellie Saab gown has enough detail to adorn several garments!
6. Alberta Ferreri for the win in this velvet, navy gown! Go, Taraji!
7. Swooning for these ruffles by Gucci, Ryan Gosling definitely makes our best dressed list!
8. Ruth Negga stuns in this Oscar de la Renta.
9. Janelle Monae made our list twice! The unique detailing warrants mentioning!
10. Last, but certainly not least, the classic Jennifer Aniston. This gown looked so good at the Oscars, she didn't change for the after party. But why, when your outfit is fly? There are many more individuals who wowed on the red carpet, but these were our favs. Hopefully your week is blunder-free, but as exciting as this year's Oscars. Happy Monday! -AB
